Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai! – 04

Episode 04 –

Yea, well, it looks like it didn’t take long for the fanservice to kick in. To be fair, the fanservice is much more mild than the stuff we see in the likes of High School DxD, or To Love Ru, but nonetheless is a bit unnecessary. After all, there’s only so much you can fanservice you can credit to “living in an awkward situation with some family relatives”, with scenes such as the hug in bed being a pretty blatant attempt at fanservice. The boxers being soaked in what I’m assuming to be some very thick milk (perhaps a milkshake or something), was another very unnecessary bit of fanservice. Like I said though, the fanservice is a bit more understated, but nevertheless is a distraction.

To be fair, the series does still seem to be sticking to it’s themes about the difficulties of parenthood and raising children. It’s just that this episode was a “breather” before the actual hardships pop up, which I’m perfectly fine with for now. There are already huge hints at the complex future that holds these three siblings and their uncle, so having a silly breather episode never hurts. I mean, after all, the show is already starting to touch upon budget issues, the necessities of taking on more jobs for to support a family, all in conjunction with college classes for our main protagonist. And then let’s not even mention how the three kids must also go to school; it’s quite the conundrum that I can’t imagine will unfold well in the far future.

In the end, it looks like Studio Feel is sticking with it’s fanservice roots to some degree, though it is admittingly much more moderate than some of the studio’s previous works. Ignoring the fanservice, the story continues to hold some potential, but the execution so far has been very much flawed. The show isn’t very subtle with the themes it is trying to push, and as of now could use a dash of believability too. I do hope the story manages to clean up after itself in later episodes, or else this could end up being a disappointment.

Overall Enjoyment: 3.1/5
