Kyoani’s next work – Nichijou

It looks like another slice-of-life anime is going to be produced from Kyoto Animation. Personally, I expect the style of this new series to be quite casual like Lucky Star, rather than more detailed one like K-On! series.

P.S: There’s an interesting rumor from a reliable source (the same one that predicted Nichijou) that KyoAni will be producing Little Busters! sometime in the future.

Update: The OAD (Episode 0) of Nichijou will be included in the limited edition of 6th volume of the manga, which is expected to be released on January 2011. So it seems logical to conclude that the anime series will be aired sometime after that.

Music review – My Soul, Your Beats!

Since I haven’t made post in a while, I figured that posting up reviews of anime OP’s, ED’s, and other songs would be a nice way to add to this blog.

Angel Beats, airing this season, has been quite popular (if you exclude the animation quality problems). The opening for Angel Beats is performed by Lia, which has been somewhat of a trade mark of series done with Key involved. There was a one time change of the OP where a rock version of the song was played, voiced by a different singer, but that’s for another time.

Score: 7.5/10

Although this may be the TV version of the song, My soul, Your beats makes excellent usage of the piano, and complements the opening animation quite well. Although I don’t expect the full version to be much better than the TV version, the song nevertheless is quite good. It also gives off a sense of reminiscence, or maybe watching a dream would be more accurate. Either ways, a relatively good OP for a relatively good show.
