Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan 08

I’ve been debating about blogging about whatever anime episodes I’m watching, but didn’t like the idea of posting stuff starting from the middle of the series. But heck, I guess I’ll just post whenever I watch. I probably won’t be doing any of the episodes I missed (cause I’m lazy/busy like that :P). Anyways, the episode:

Episode 08 – Fleeting Dreams

Well, this episode was rather standard, throwing in some slice of life mixed in with a little (and I mean VERY little) of much needed character development. Quite frankly, the main character (Chizuru) does virtually nothing except being depressed over every little thing (emo, much?). This episode was borderline filler, which annoys me to no end, but there was one interesting aspect to all of this.

Music Review – Kimi no shiranai monogatari

Man, I’m doing a lot more music reviews than I thought I would be. I guess this is my way of procrastinating on getting back to anime episode posts. I’ll get back to those sometime soon ( ̄□ ̄;)

Kimi no shiranai monogatari, a more recent musical piece, was used as the ending theme for the anime Bakemonogatari (which I loved, btw). Created by supercell, a doujin musical group well known for their vocaloid songs, is relatively new to the professional music scene. This song was actually my first encounter with one of supercell’s works, and I’d have to say, I’m quite satisfied with the result.

Music Review – Fields of Hope

Since I was doing some music reviews, I figured I might as well review some anime songs from my middle school/high school years. Fields of hope is one of those, a song from the Gundam seed anime series. Although Gundam seed, in general, had a lukewarm reception in the US, this song in particular holds a fond place in my memories.

Anime review – Ga-rei -Zero-

After rewatching this series with my little brother (3rd time), I thought it was only fair to give Ga rei zero a proper review. Note that I’ll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible.

Ga rei zero was a pleasant surprise, defying my expectations of it based on its generic trailer and description. The first episode, in particular, was a “wtfwhathappenediwanttowatchmore” attention grabber.

One of the better shows that aired in fall of 2008, Ga rei zero tells a tale of two young girls, Kagura and Yomi, their lives as they grow older, and the resulting tragedy that ensues.

Music review – Lunar silver star harmony soundtrack

Recently, on my commute to work and during other spare moments of my life (like a long bathroom break, for example ( ̄ー ̄)/) I’ve dusted off my psp and have been playing some new games. Among them is a more recently released remake of a classic JRPG, renamed from Lunar Silver Star Story to Lunar silver star harmony.

And with the limited edition of the game came a CD with select musical compositions from the game, with completely remastered tracks and vocals.

Noriyuki Iwadare, the original composer of this masterpiece of a soundtrack, was involved in the remastering of the tracks. He was also a part of the composition of entirely new, original tracks.

Black Rock Shooter Pilot Edition

Here’s a good preview of the Black Rock Shooter that’s going to be bundled with Megami Magazine and Monthly Animedia on July 2010. It is currently being produced by Ordet, a relatively unknown animation company, but it’s interesting to note that the work’s director and art directors are former Kyoani Staffs. There are also some connections with A-1 Pictures. This pilot edition has been released quite a while ago (September 2009 to be exact), but I still look forward watching it this summer. 🙂
